Hellyers Road Distillery proudly presents the newest release in the rich tapestry of its Peated single malt expression. From our meticulous approach to selecting only the finest peated barley sourced from Inverness, Scotland, Hellyers Road has cemented its reputation as being Australia’s foremost Peated Whisky producer.

This exquisite release marks a triumphant return to our single malt portfolio, bottled at 46.2% ABV and adorned with a prestigious Gold Medal from the esteemed 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Our commitment to excellence shines through in every aspect of this expression, from the selection of first-fill American Oak ex-bourbon casks from Heaven Hill to the infusion of premium peated malted barley sourced directly from Inverness.

“Each sip reveals layers of subtle sweetness, vanilla, and savoury peat, underscored by a nuanced salinity that is unique to Hellyers Road Distillery's cool maritime climate in Northwest Tasmania,” explains Fiona Coutts, Head Distiller.

Nose - Upon the nose, sweet tea and brine notes tantalize the senses, followed by a delicate balance of sea salt, oyster shell, green leaf, and fresh bark. Subtle whispers of campfire embers intertwine with a hint of medicinal allure in the background.

Palate - On the palate, a smooth and textural journey unfolds, with fresh peat leading the way alongside herbal tones, smoked leaf, and the essence of oyster. A touch of honey sweetness gracefully rounds out the palate, delivering a sophisticated richness that coats the senses with unparalleled elegance.

Finish - As the journey culminates, a medium-length finish continues to enchant, resonating across the palate with effortless smoothness. Experience the perfect harmony of balance and refinement in this impeccably crafted peated single malt whisky.

Hellyers can do in 7 years what takes the Balvenie 15

Still hard to believe that these whisky's are produced in such short amount of time. I know "Peated" is not strictly comparable to my favourite scotch, but it is so well rounded, so drinkable, such a pleasure.

    Drinking notes:

    - start with "the journeyman"

    - then "oloroso"

    - then the "Peated" - with a nice dark chocolate

    Sensational!

This is becoming one of my go to whiskys.

The peat delivers a light and sweet experience that seems to lift the flavours rather than shroud them in smoke haze. It is different. Helyers Road is differnet. I had to get towards the end of the first bottle to make freinds with it.

Like so many good whiskys, it needs to have some breathing time in the glass or with the neck take out of the bottle. I have been told that too long in the half emptied bottle is not good for whisky. No risk of that for me with this beauty!

    Quickly becoming my favourite

This delectable whisky is fast becoming my favourite dram. Subtle hints of smoke adds to the delicious oak vanilla notes. Not like all the others this whisky is more than worth a try, keep a bottle in your bar.
