Named after the Roaring Forties, the strong, prevailing westerly winds that traverse around the Southern Hemisphere.

Uninterrupted, it travels from Patagonia to North West Tasmania, bringing with it the cleanest air in the world. This clean air and pure landscapes combine with nearly 30 years of whisky-making experience to bring you this new Tasmanian single malt whisky, the Roaring Forties.

Roaring Forties is powerful and bold, yet complex and impeccably balanced. Shaped by its maritime origins, it’s the perfect companion when the wind is up and the night closes in.

Nose

Subtle oak and luscious sweetness in perfect balance. A twist of lemon peel and vibrant florals, grounded by oatmeal, cream, dried apricots, and a hint of cacao nibs.

Palate

Vanilla ice cream with strawberries in syrup. Plump sultanas and a full, sweet mid-palate, with a whisper of smoke.

Finish

Medium length, smooth and moreish.

I'm always open to new drams and these did not disappoint. Same high standard, easy to tipple and a surprising new after taste.

An exceptional Whisky at an exceptional good price.

Ever since visiting Hellyers Road distillery in January 2023, my introduction to their whisky, I have sampled, sipped and drank a number of their bottlings. Each one seemingly out doing the last, however, this Roaring Forties has more than just out done the last it has leapt forward in a single huge bound. Right from the very first taste and feel on the tongue to the last flavor left in the mouth is extremely memorable. I have to say by far my favorite whisky that I currently have open. Fiona Coutts and her team have out done themselves with this one, thank you.
