Distillers Choice
The Hellyers Road Distillers' Choice experience is Australia’s most in-depth direct-from-cask experience with barrels from 7 to 22 years old. Inspired by some of the icons of Scotland, we offer whisky lovers the chance to hand-bottle and label Australia’s Finest Aged Whisky direct from the very vessel in which it is ageing, most at cask strength.
We have searched the bond store, designed the space, and installed and perfected every detail of our Distillers' Choice experience.
The Distillers' Choice room at our Cellar Door holds 14 casks, from 14 distinct regions covering 6 countries of origin. From the islands of Madeira and Sicily to France's famed Armagnac, the south of Spain and much, much more.
The current oldest cask is a 22 Year Old American Oak, ex-Jack Daniels that sits at 52.4%.
Our custom Copper Dogs and trays have been handcrafted by Rankin & Bond in Launceston, a workshop that has mastered its craft over the past century. These historical smuggling tools allow visitors to taste directly from the cask before bottling their chosen whisky to take home.
Local Alan Russell from AL’s Custom Signage crafted the wall signage, while long-term partner of Hellyers Road, Rob van Tholen made the cask signs, and leather ledger folders were made by Maka Leathergoods in Hobart. A proudly Tasmanian collection of artisans.
We invite whisky lovers to visit us in North West Tasmania, taste through this impeccable collection and then bottle and label their own 500mL bottle to take home.
