This month, we are delighted to offer you exclusive access to 21 Club Release No.10 - Blackwood.
The Whisky
Blackwood began its journey in 2003, with a selection of ten American oak first-fill ex-bourbon casks chosen for their classic Hellyers Road profile (think generous notes of vanilla and honey).
After 19 years of maturation in our bond store on North West Coast of Tasmania, these casks were brought together in early 2023 and transferred into six 200L 25 Year Old Barossa tawny port barrels, along with one American oak first-fill ex-bourbon. Which went on to become our Release No.8 - a 22 year old Double American Oak Leatherwood.
Over the next 3 years, the whisky developed further richness and depth with the tawny cask influence building beautifully on the American oak foundation. In February 2026, 141 litres of whisky was drawn from cask #23F002c06 to create Blackwood.
With the other 5 casks still maturing, Blackwood offers a glimpse into what this exceptional cask selection can become.
Tasting Notes
Nose
Lively, inviting and richly layered. Dark fruit compote leads, followed by baking spice, orange oil and marzipan. Subtle notes of green tea and polished mahogany.
Palate
Rich and viscous. Poached plums in syrup, raisins and marmalade unfold across the palate, supported by a buttery richness with highlights of vanilla and honey. The tawny port cask finishing integrates beautifully with the American oak maturation casks.

Long and evolving.
Blackwood
Each of our 21 Club releases has featured a Tasmanian endemic rainforest tree, species that are unique, beautiful and brought to life in the drawings of Inti Callaghan on the labels of the 21 Club whiskies.
For this release, we chose the magnificent Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon).
Blackwoods significance extends into culture and material history. Beneath its scaley silver bark lies a substance of great worth. Its dark, richly grained timber has long been valued for tools, furniture and musical instruments, prized for both strength and tone, and used for millennia by those who have called Lutruwita / Tasmania home.
This treasured release will come with a Certificate of Authenticity, a note from the artist Inti Callaghan and a postcard sized version of Inti's beautiful artwork.
Please note that all 21 Club releases are pre-ordered and bottled only upon order placement. Our ordering window for Blackwood closes on March 31, and the whisky will be dispatched in mid-April.
