A Pure Expression

In 2016, some of our best American oak ex-bourbon casks were selected, and the life of this whisky started. Bottled in 2026, this 10 Year Old is the purest expression of Hellyers Road, where tradition and time combine to show off our distillery character.

Unadorned and in its purest state, without the influence of a secondary maturation, this Tasmanian Single Malt showcases the interplay of tropical notes, distinct to Hellyers Road whiskies of maturity. Classic vanilla and coconut from maturation in American oak shine in this dram, the perfect welcome for those looking for vibrant flavours and the luscious finish that only comes with time.

Milled, mashed, fermented and distilled on site, like all Hellyers Road whiskies.

Nose

Citrus of lemon and lime jump from the glass. Ginger spice, sweet vanilla and a nice fattiness – custard Danish - sit with subtle oak influence to provide balance to this elegant nose.

Palate

A lovely, honeyed intensity, with classic American oak notes of vanilla and coconut, with a dusting of dark chocolate cocoa. A savoury herbaceous note, and another hit of lemony citrus that adds a refreshing lift.

Finish

Long and sweet.

American Oak at Hellyers Road

Since 1999, we have been aging our new make spirit (milled, mashed, fermented and distilled on site) in full-size, 200L American oak ex-bourbon barrels. So firmly embedded in our history, they were in fact our only aging vessels until 2014, when exploration of other casks started.

These ex-bourbon barrels, often from Jack Daniels, are perfect for long-term maturation, adding sweetness, without harsh tannin over decades.
